Aston Villa confirmed the signing of Swansea City striker Borja Baston in the late hours of Deadline Day.

The Spaniard makes the move to Villa Park on a free transfer, subject to international clearance, following the loan signings of Pepe Reina and Danny Drinkwater, as well as the move of fellow striker Mbwana Samatta.

Villa fans have celebrated the signing of the 27-year-old in the replies to their club's announcement.

Some are just pleased that another signing has been made, with one stating that the club "took your time", while another picked up on the fact that it is a free transfer.

It was imperative that Villa signed another striker, due to the fact that Wesley is out injured for the rest of the season, while Jonathan Kodjia left the club in January.

Baston may not be the biggest of names, but the fact that they have recruited another striker to compete with Samatta should be seen as a positive sign.

There are certain fans who are more excited when they look at the individual who is coming into their club, rather than just accepting him as any old signing.

The 27-year-old got six league goals and an assist for Swansea this season, having previously represented the likes of Atletico Madrid and Malaga.

Baston has been told "give 100% and the fans will love you", which will definitely be the case if he helps to keep Villa in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Villa fans were left in dismay by one loan exit.
