We may be unable to keep Aston Villa target, says Wolves boss

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett has revealed that Aston Villa have not yet approached his side to discuss Bakary Sako before hinting that they may be unable to keep the in-form winger.

The Villains are rumoured to be watching the Championship ace closely after being impressed by his seven-goal return for the high-flying Midlands outfit.

Sako fired Wolves up from League One last term, and his contributions this time around have helped to prompt talk of back-to-back promotions at Molineux.

But the 26-year-old’s future is in some doubt with his contract due to expire at the end of the season, which has led to talk of a move in January if the club cannot tie him down to a new deal.

Jackett says that there have been no approaches, but that he may be unable to keep his man if a decent bid is made:

“I don’t think we’d be looking at that (letting him go) – we’d like to make sure he’s part of things here going forward. If the right price is there, it has to be considered. But we’d need a very good offer.” He is quoted by Sky Sports.

“We’re not trying to instigate anything. We’ll deal with it if and when the phone rings.

“We’ve had no contact from Villa and we’d love to keep Sako because he’s been a big part of what we’ve done here.”
