Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has revealed that star attacker Antoine Griezmann could leave the club amid interest from Chelsea, according to reports from the Mirror.
The France international stayed with Atletico and has been in fine form this term, but Simeone claims that Griezmann could depart if the club receive an offer they can’t turn down either this month or in the summer.
Simeone said: “The sporting directors have been speaking to him directly, with those close to him, in order to work out what’s best for him and the club.
“Of course he’s a very important player for us, but we can’t hold him here with chains.”
Atletico and city rivals Real Madrid have been hit with a transfer embargo that will see them unable to sign new players in the upcoming two transfer windows, meaning the 2014 La Liga champions will want to do all they can to keep the 24-year-old at the club until the summer of 2017.
Griezmann has made 29 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring 18 goals and providing four assists.
