With the Premier League season kicking off in just two weeks away Andre Villas-Boas has a major predicament facing him as he continues preparations for his maiden campaign as Spurs boss. As the furore surrounding Luka Modric now beginning to die down the focus has shifted to Villas-Boas fixing a major chink in his squad that would almost certainly hinder his chances of achieving the objectives set for next season. Leading the club back into the Champions League is the minimum requirement for the Portuguese tactician but his task will be made all the more tougher without a suitable target man to fit his favoured 4-3-3 formation. Jermain Defoe and youngster Harry Kane are the two currently battling it out for a place in the starting eleven after the pursuit of Emmanuel Adebayor broke down with reports claiming he wants a chunk of the transfer fee from his current employers. The Togo forward proved last term he is the ideal player to operate in the lone striker role but with a move to White Hart Lane looking likely does Villas-Boas have a plan B? Spurs fans better hope so!

This week on FFC what does the future hold for Tom Huddlestone and Jermaine Jenas at the Lane and will Villas-Boas manage to seal a deal for Hugo Lloris?

Quote of the Week

"Obviously there was an interest in Ade but we have a need first for Jermain to get back from his personal tragedy for the team to have further options in the striker position. We are still building a team. The team can improve and we are looking to improve it. This is obviously not the final product and as we go through August we have to get the right perspective as to where we can improve and where we will arrive." Andre Villas-Boas assesses his attacking options ahead of the new season.
