After a frustrating summer transfer window, Newcastle United have had a mixed start to the season.

On the opening weekend, Rafael Benitez's side faced a tough task against Tottenham Hotspur.

The North-East outfit were always going to be underdogs, and they proved to be so when they lost 2-1.

On Saturday, the club came up against newly-promoted side Cardiff City, and on paper, fans may have expected a victory, but they had to settle for a point.

Despite Kenedy missing a stoppage-time penalty, snatching a point was not the worst result possible given that from the 66th minute Newcastle played with 10 men following Isaac Hayden's sending-off.

Understandably, though, plenty of supporters have been left disappointed, and a handful took aim at Ayoze Perez on social media.

The attacker, who started the game but was substituted in the 65th minute, tried to rally the troops with a post-match tweet.

For some, though, Perez's message was not acceptable.
