Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has given Liverpool fans some positive news, as he told Sky Sports that neither of Spanish football’s giants will realistically move for Philippe Coutinho at this time.
Coutinho is currently in fine form for Liverpool, helping Jurgen Klopp’s side storm to top of the table, but the former Inter Milan man has often seen his name linked with a high profile exit from Anfield- in similar fashion to that of Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling.
If the South American was to leave the Premier League, then La Liga would be a likely destination but Liverpool fans can look forward to having the player for a few more years as things stand- as neither Barcelona or Real are in a position to make a move.
“He needs a bit more glamour for Real Madrid to have big, big interest. For Barcelona, they need to decide what to do with Arda Turan, and then they have to decide whether a player like Coutinho fits in that team.”
“The problem with Coutinho as a No 10, he hasn’t got a place in a Barcelona 4-3-3. He has to play wide, or play deeper, but that isn’t his role, so it’s difficult to find a place for him. At the moment, neither of them are in the equation, but let’s see how things progress.”
With Real Madrid always looking out for a Galactico signing, Coutinho doesn’t quite fit the bill and Zinedine Zidane’s side also have to worry about an upcoming transfer ban against them.
Meanwhile, Coutinho definitely wouldn’t fit into Barcelona’s current style of play and he’d find things difficult to earn regular football- with the likes of Andres Iniesta, Ivan Rakitic and Sergio Busquets to compete with.
