OGC Nice striker Mario Balotelli has urged former team-mate Mamadou Sakho to follow his route out of Anfield and join the Ligue 1 leaders.
Balotelli brought an end to two woeful years on the books at Anfield this summer as he sealed a free transfer to Nice, where the Italian striker has rekindled his form and helped OGC Nice to first-spot in the league.
Now, he’s advised Sakho to follow suit with the former Paris Saint-Germain defender surplus to requirements in the eyes of Jurgen Klopp and yet to feature this season.
“I speak with him from time to time. I said to him: ‘What a waste, a player like you is not playing’.”
“He has to leave. I said to him: ‘If you want, come to Nice’. I am going to speak to him about it. In January, it would be good.”
Sakho missed Liverpool’s Europa League final defeat to Sevilla last term and was also absent for France’s Euro 2016 campaign after failing a drugs test at the back-end of last season, though he was later cleared of any wrongdoing and the results were thrown out.
Balotelli is not alone in his advice to Sakho, with France boss Didier Deschamps also advising him to move on in the New Year.
“There has to be another solution for him to find another club in the January window.”
