Arsenal and Liverpool have been boosted in their persuit of Barcelona right-back Martin Montoya, according to the Express.
The 23-year-old has fallen out of favour at the Camp Nou, despite initally being regarded as the next big thing to emerge from the Spanish giant’s empressive youth academy.
And Montoya’s agent has confirmed via the Spanish media that he’s working hard to persudade Barcelona to allow his client to leave in January.
Juan de Dios Carrasco said: “Luis Enrique has already told him he is behind Dani Alves and Douglas, but it now seems he is also behind Adriano.
“My advice to him is to ask for a transfer, not to go out on loan.
“We are faced with him being loaned out until the end of Luis Enrique’s contract in 2016, but Martin neither wants to go on loan or wait to see whether Enrique renews or not.”
And should Luis Enrique agree to the sale of the highly-rated defender, both Liverpool and Arsenal are expected to offer him a way out of La Liga.
