Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after L'Equipe (via Sky Sports) reported that Bordeaux have pulled out of a deal to sign Christian Benteke on loan, after they were charged a £500k fee to take him on a temporary deal.

The south Londoners are believed to be open to the idea of loaning their No.17 out this month, following the arrival of Cenk Tosun on loan until the end of the season.

Benteke - who is yet to score this term - was said to be a target for the Ligue 1 side this month, although the £500k fee, coupled with his £120k-a-week wages, mean that Bordeaux felt the cost of the move was too high.

The Belgium international has only managed four goals in his last 66 appearances for the Eagles, having netted 17 times in his first season following a £27m move from Liverpool in 2016.

Bordeaux are now said to be looking at alternatives to Benteke, who has found himself behind Jordan Ayew in the pecking order under Roy Hodgson this term, having managed to make just four Premier League starts.

Let's see how the Crystal Palace fans on Twitter reacted to the news...

To begin the reaction, these three supporters voiced their desire to see Benteke depart Selhurst Park.

The first fan - with the username 'Travelling Salesman' - said that Steve Parish can't seem to grasp the bigger picture, which would be that the forward's wages are "slashed", he rediscovers some confidence and the club get to replace him by loaning the former Aston Villa man out.

Another fan named Rob said "please just take him away" while James Edwards demanded that the 29-year-old was sold in emphatic fashion through the use of exclamation marks and capital letters.

Elsewhere, these two fans felt that the £500k loan fee may have been an unrealistic demand.

One tagged Parish's Twitter account and said "this is getting silly now" while another supporter named Joe said that "we are just the cheekiest".

It's the dawn of a new decade in the Premier League, but how much do you know about the last 10 years?

Lastly, Liam said that he feels "like everyone needs this" loan move - given Benteke's struggles in SE25 in recent years, and his massive wages weighing Palace down, it's hard to argue with this.
