Big money ex-Chelsea & Liverpool man could be the next star set for China

Ex-Liverpool and Chelsea striker Fernando Torres could be the next in a long line of big name players to head to China, according to reports from Marca.

The Far East nation’s Super League has been causing a stir of late, with vast levels of spending having allowed top clubs such as Guangzhou Evergrande and Jiangsu Suning to lure players in the peak from top European teams.

Jackson Martinez and Ramires have joined the aforementioned clubs respectively over the course of the past few weeks, while other names such as Gervinho and Fredy Guarin have also been lure in by the huge salaries on offer.

And now reports claim that Torres is one of three Atletico Madrid players attracting serious interest from China, alongside Gabi and Tiago.

‘El Nino’s’ agent has already claimed that his client has an offer on the table that could make him one of the highest paid players on the planet, and with the current trend, that could be from a Super League side.

Torres has commanded fees in excess of £70m through his career (Liverpool paid in excess of £20m, while Chelsea splashed a now infamous £50m sum) and is considered to be, despite his decline, a top-level striker.
