Bournemouth put their poor run of form firmly behind them with a jaw-dropping 5-0 win over Brighton at the weekend, with a number of Cherries players putting in top quality performances.

Naturally, the free-scoring strike force stole the headlines, with Ryan Fraser and Callum Wilson linking up sublimely again to clip the Seagulls' wings, although a different player had Garth Crooks drooling as the BBC Sport pundit named his team of the week.

Writing in his weekly feature, Crooks had this to say about Nathan Ake, who deputised capably at left-back with both Charlie Daniels and Diego Rico out injured:

"Another piece of masterful defending by Nathan Ake against Brighton. If Ake wasn't heading balls out of his own box he was assisting his team in brilliant counter-attacks."

The 5 ft 11 ace has been steadily improving since trading west London for the south coast and is arguably their best defender - a point proved by his impressive display in an unfamiliar position last time out, in which he completed an incredible six tackles, plus one key pass and dribble each.

If the Dutchman continues to impress on the left of defence while the aforementioned duo are sidelined, then he will surely go far further in the estimations of the top six clubs.
