According to The Sun, Bournemouth are planning to launch a bid to land Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek on loan in the upcoming January transfer window, with a view to making the switch permanent at the end of the season.
The 22-year-old has been in great form for the Blues so far this season, and has already racked up six goals in all competitions. This is a particularly impressive return considering how little game time he is currently getting at Stamford Bridge.
The 10-cap England man has only started one Premier League game this season, with Maurizio Sarri generally preferring a central trio of Jorginho, N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic.
Former Wigan & Fulham man, Jimmy Bullard recently showed that he’s still got it! Check out the video below...
At this stage in his career, Loftus-Cheek needs to be playing week in, week out. Especially if he is to maintain his involvement at international level. If the chance to play regular football won’t come in west London, then the 6’3″ ace must seek a move elsewhere.
As a potential destination, the Vitality Stadium ought to appeal. Bournemouth themselves would certainly be wise to try and land the Chelsea man.
Eddie Howe’s in-form side are flying right now after a great start to the season. The south coast club also play a brand of fast-paced, attacking football that ought to perfectly suit both Loftus-Cheek’s technical and physical talents.
At the very least a loan switch, if not a permanent move, would afford the midfielder the opportunity to play regularly and to be entrusted with a senior role in the squad.
For all involved, then, this looks to be a deal that makes sense – except Chelsea, who may come to regret not having done more to make Loftus-Cheek part of their plans.
