Only a year ago, Liverpool came off brilliant season in which they finished second behind Manchester City in the Premier League, and things were looking bright for the men from Merseyside.
Even with the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona, it looked as though the Reds had his departure covered when Brendan Rodgers went out to spend almost £100million on new players.
However, none of them even came close to replicating the talents of the Uruguayan, and those that he bought to reinforce the defence and midfield also failed to deliver.
Looking back, it’s now apparent that the former Swansea boss has a rather poor track record when it comes to signing new players, with only possibly the addition of Daniel Sturridge seen as a masterstroke.
And this summer Rodgers has been on a massive spending spree, already completing seven deals while working on the transfer of Christian Benteke to Anfield.
Let’s hope that the new men are nothing like his Five Worst Ever Signings!
