According to the Daily Mail, Brighton and Hove Albion are preparing an £18million bid for the services of Celtic striker, Moussa Dembele.
The Frenchman has displayed impressive form once again this season having scored a total of eight goals in 18 games in all competitions. Celtic have reportedly placed a £30m price tag on the forward.
Brighton are allegedly ready to break their club record transfer fee to sign the Celtic striker. Chris Hughton has publicly lauded the former Fulham star, and he’s refusing to disregard the possibility of signing the 21-year-old in the forthcoming January transfer window.
Nonetheless, the Scottish champions are seemingly resilient on amassing £30m if Dembele departs in the January window, while transfermarkt.com value him at just £4.5m.
Despite being only 21-years-old, the Frenchman has testified his status as a lethal goal scorer. With both Fulham and Celtic, the striker has illustrated his capacity to score goals on a regular basis, and he almost flaunts a career ratio of a goal every two games.
The former PSG youth player has scored 59 goals in 131 career appearances, and 32 of those goals were scored last season as Celtic completed a memorable season unbeaten domestically.
Brighton have severely struggled for goals in the Premier League this season, having only found the net 14 time in 18 games – an average of less than a goal per game. The fact that a 34-year-old Glen Murray is the Seagulls’ top scorer is illustrative of their woes, and they cannot afford to be so reliant on a player who doesn’t provide longevity.
Moussa Dembele would be a terrific signing for Brighton, and it would help alleviate many of the issues that stands to negate their progress in the league this season.
