According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart is set to have a medical at Burnley ahead of a £4m move from the Premier League champions.
England’s former number one has spent the previous two seasons on loan away from City after Pep Guardiola’s arrival signalled the end of his time as number one. He failed to convince though in both the 2016/17 season in Italy with Torino and last season in the Premier League with West Ham.
The Mail reports that the 31-year-old has agreed a verbal deal to take a significant pay cut in order to carry on playing European football with Burnley in the Europa League. Clarets boss Sean Dyche was hit with a crisis when Nick Pope dislocated his shoulder in the first leg of Burnley’s qualifier against Aberdeen as Tom Heaton continues his recovery from a calf injury.
Ex-Manchester United keeper Anders Lindegaard played in the club’s second leg extra-time victory but now it looks as though Hart will come in to take the Dane’s spot. Burnley fans on Twitter were pleased with the potential signing. Check out some of their best reactions here.
Anyone criticising the potential signing of Joe Hart need their heads testing. Would be a fantastic addition #twitterclarets

Pope will probably be out for the season. Heaton also injured perhaps to Christmas. £4m for a keeper of Hart's quality is peanuts. Yes, he's been dreadfully out of form, but if anyone can sort him it's Billy Mercer. #TwitterClarets

Stuart Pearce, whilst at West Ham, said of Joe Hart, that he’s the number one character a team needs in a dressing room…his influence on others is amazing. Sean Dyche signs this type of player. Billy Mercer will do his magic. It’s a perfect fit for #twitterclarets

Win win either way signing Joe Hart. Billy Mercer has turned two League 1 keepers into England keepers so I think he will get Hart back to his best.
But even if he doesn’t, Hart’s leadership and experience will prove useful both in the dressing room and for Pope #twitterclarets

Gets a lot of stick these days, from myself sometimes. But I think Joe Hart would be a very decent signing for us tbf #twitterclarets
