Cardiff and Hull chase Seagulls midfielder

Brighton midfielder Liam BridcuttCardiff and Hull are keen on completing a summer move for Brighton midfielder Liam Bridcutt, according to reports from Sky Sports.

The 24-year-old is widely regarded as one of the finest players in the Championship, and a key part of the Seagulls’ squad that made it to the play-off semi-finals.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, with both Cardiff and Hull keen to add him to their set-ups after securing promotion to the Premier League.

The Amex Stadium-based side are aware that they may face a battle to keep hold of their midfield man this summer, and know that it may well be one they cannot win.

Bridcutt has established himself as one of Brighton’s key players since his 2010 arrival on the south coast, and has even forced himself into the Scotland squad, for whom he has appeared once.

Cardiff and Hull believe that he has the ability to perform at the very highest level, which may prompt them to make moves over the coming months.

The newly promoted duo could face competition from two sides that will be swapping divisions with them, as both QPR and Reading are also interested.

Bridcutt has two years remaining on his current contract, but could attempt to push through an early exit ahead of next season.

Will Liam Bridcutt be able to make the step up from Championship to Premier League football?
