Chelsea ahead of Man United in £80m superstar hunt

Manchester United are no longer in the running for £80m Juventus star Paul Pogba, leaving Chelsea in the lead for his signature, according to reports from The Express.

The 21-year-old France international is widely seen as one of the very best midfielders on the planet after living up to the hype he received earlier in his career in Turin.

Pogba spent some of his time as a youth player at United, but decided to ditch the Red Devils just over two-and-a-half years ago after growing frustrated with his lack of game time at Old Trafford.

His impressive showings since then had lured United back into the running, but reports now suggest that a massive £80m fee has deterred the club.

United chiefs are not ready to sanction such a sum for a player they allowed to slip away for free, which puts Kevin Strootman in pole position to relocate to Manchester.

The news will come as a boost for Chelsea, who have also been aligned with Pogba for some time.
