Chelsea and Man City on transfer alert

Gregory-van-der-Wiel-PSGChelsea and Manchester City could reignite their interest in Dutch international Gregory van der Weil, with Paris Saint-Germain ready to sell the full-back, according to reports from The Express.

The Premier League duo were chasing in the 25-year-old prior to his move from Ajax to the French capital, but were unable to compete with the wealthy outfit.

Van der Weil only completed his switch to the Parc des Princes last summer, but PSG are already willing to allow him to leave as they step up their pursuit of other targets.

Barcelona’s Daniel Alves is thought to be top of their list, but even if they miss out on the Brazilian, bids for Bacary Sagna and Mathieu Debuchy, of Arsenal and Newcastle respectively, have been mooted.

In a bid to free up the space in their squad, PSG are thought to be willing to allow the right-back to move away from the club on loan.

City have been tracking van der Weil since around 2009 and could well rekindle their interest, while Chelsea are also thought to be big admirers after seeing their move for his signature thwarted just over 12 months ago.

The player himself could be keen to move on with the 2014 World Cup just around the corner.

Should Manchester City and Chelsea go all out for Gregory van der Weil?
