As stated in the Daily Express, ex-Barcelona teammate of the silky Argentinean, Eric Abidal, has claimed that Lionel Messi would in-fact be interested in a new challenge away from La Liga in the not too distant future.
The former Nou Camp defender, who represented Barcelona during their most recent glory years, has revealed: “Having won everything with Barcelona, perhaps he [Messi] would like a different challenge, being able to win trophies with another club, that remains a possibility.”
With the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United all interested in the talented world star of modern football however, it seems the Premier League may not be Messi’s most desired destination should his Barcelona career come to its natural conclusion.
Eric Abidal has revealed that Ligue 1 could one day tempt the multiple Ballon d’Or winner.
“It’s true that PSG have, for a while now, been able to put a good squad together, a good team with an attiude, a desire, a determination and objective to be achieved,” he added.
“It’s perhaps a club that he would like.”
Whilst such statements remain far from conclusive, in light of his reported disagreements with current manager Luis Enrique, they will nevertheless serve to fuel the constant talk of Lionel Messi one day leaving Barcelona, and potentially plying his trade closer to home.
