Chelsea are close to the loan signing of Alexandre Pato after finalising talks on Sunday night, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
Pato has been heavily linked with a move away from Corinthians in recent weeks, with the Brazilian openly admitting to The Telegraph that he wants to resurrect his career in Europe last month.
This has seen the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur interested in his services, but the Blues are closing in on his signature after courting him for much of the transfer window.
Interim manager Guus Hiddink admitted that his side need another attacker amid his lack of options up front, with Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy struggling with form and fitness.
Pato’s arrival will give lone front man Diego Costa some competition for a starting spot, with the former AC Milan striker scoring 26 goals while on loan with Sao Paolo last season.
The Blues are also interested in another Brazilian in Shakhtar Donetsk’s Alex Teixeira, but will need to battle Liverpool for this signature.
