Chelsea are plotting a move to sign Atletico Madrid star Miranda, but may need to go head-to-head with Manchester United for his services, according to reports from the Mirror.
The 30-year-old defender is said to have been scouted at the weekend in his team’s 2-2 draw with Malaga, as the Blues consider another raid of the La Liga champions.
Manager Jose Mourinho already completed deals which saw both Diego Costa and Filipe Luis join them from the Spanish giants back in the summer and could attempt to lure another player to Stamford Bridge.
Miranda has only one year left on his current deal, and with talks still at a standstill, the Premier League leaders could use this factor as a bargaining chip to complete his signing.
United are also very keen on bringing the centre-back to Old Trafford, but the player recently revealed that he wants to remain at Atletico despite being flattered by interest from the Red Devils.
