£73m-rated Chelsea ace open to stunning exit

Chelsea may face a battle to keep Thibaut Courtois at Stamford Bridge this summer, with the Belgian eyeing a shock move to Real Madrid, according to reports from the London Evening Standard.

The Belgium international has been a Blues player since 2011, but he’s only been with the London club for one full campaign, 2014/15, after spending a successful three-season spell on loan at Atletico Madrid.

Courtois has dislodged Petr Cech to cement himself as Jose Mourinho’s No.1 – in what was controversial move from the Portuguese boss – but the club have now been rocked by reports that the 23-year-old is open to a switch to Real Madrid.

The Spaniards are believed to have been looking at the Chelsea man as their ‘keeper search rumbles on, but a £73m price tag has been fired back their way by the Premier League champions.

Real are looking increasingly likely to move for Manchester United’s David de Gea instead, but Courtois is worried that such a deal may thwart his chances of playing for Los Blancos.

The ex-Genk man is believed to have his heart set on joining one of Spain’s big two – the other being Barcelona – but should the current Red Devils stopper join Real there’s every chance that, given his age, 24, he could be their main stopper for at least 10 years.

Courtois is not ready to force his way out of Chelsea as things stand, but his representatives are actively exploring the La Liga giants’ interest.
