Antonio Rudiger will miss the Europa League Final after he suffered a season-ending injury against Manchester United in April.
However, that has not stopped him making the journey to Baku to support his Chelsea teammates as they look to win Maurizio Sarri’s first trophy as Chelsea manager.
The 26-year-old is a crucial part of Sarri’s Chelsea team and before his injury he made 44 appearances in all-competitions.
Since signing from Roma for £29m in 2017, Rudiger has established himself as an excellent option in the Blues defence and he is also well liked by the fans. His decision to go over to the travelling Chelsea contingent to apologise for their 6-0 thrashing at Manchester City certainly did his reputation wonders.
The fact he is on crutches and is making the journey to Baku to see the final is likely to only endear him even more to Blues fans.
Andreas Christensen is likely to replace the German, and he will be hoping that his replacement can do the job and ensure Chelsea lift some silverware at the end of a turbulent season.
