Arsenal supporters on Twitter have accused Olivier Giroud of lying about his Chelsea allegiances after the striker recommitted himself to the Blues before the two sides face off in the Europa League final on May 29.

The 32-year old was linked with an exit from west London after the conclusion of the current campaign but instead opted to sign a new one-year deal to keep him at Chelsea until next summer.

Giroud became a fan favourite during his five-and-a-half-year spell at the Emirates, scoring 105 goals and adding 41 assists in 253 appearances while earning a reputation for the spectacular, particularly after his Puskas award-winning scorpion kick against Crystal Palace.

The French World Cup winner left Arsenal to sign for Chelsea in January 2018 but has struggled to establish himself as the clear first-choice striker, initially under Antonio Conte, and this season under Maurizio Sarri.

Speaking ahead of the Europa League final, Giroud reaffirmed his commitment to Chelsea and professed his blood to be blue, a comment that has irked Arsenal supporters on Twitter who believe the striker to still be red at heart.
