His fine displays have caught the eye of Barca, who are planning for life without current number one Victor Valdes – who is set to leave the Nou Camp next year.
Courtois is seen as the ideal replacement for the Spanish international, and is thought to be keen to make the move.
The La Liga champions are ready to spend £20m to push through a deal, and are hopeful that Chelsea will accept.
Courtois would likely be confined to the bench should he return to Stamford Bridge, with Petr Cech established as Jose Mourinho’s number one.
