Barcelona have joined Chelsea in the race to sign Everton defender John Stones, according to reports in the Metro.
The Catalan giants are said to have thrown their hat into the ring to sign the England international in an effort to freshen up their backline.
Stones joined Everton in 2013 after coming through the ranks at Barnsley, and was the subject of four different bids from Jose Mourinho over the summer.
He handed in a transfer request to force though a move, but ultimately stayed at Goodison Park and has impressed with solid performances.
The Blaugrana will be free to register players in the New Year, after receiving FIFA sanctions amid concerns other their recruitment of young players.
Both Arda Turn and Alex Vidal were signed in the summer, but have been unable to make competitive debuts yet.
Manager Luis Enrique is reported to be a fan of the 21-year old, and could start a bidding war with the Blues when the transfer window opens in January.
