Rafa Benitez says he is focused on seeing the season out at Chelsea and is refusing to think about his long-term future.
Benitez was placed in charge at Stamford Bridge for the remainder of the season after he took over from Roberto Di Matteo and is expected to walk away when his contract ends.
However with Champions League qualification looking likely following Sunday’s 1-0 win at Manchester United and with possible Europa League glory on the horizon, there have been some suggestions Benitez could stay on.
The Spaniard has played down such talk and has also hinted that he was expecting new signings when he first arrived but for one reason or another it did not happen.
“I have to do my job until the end of the season and I will do it,” Benitez revealed. “I am a professional. I will try to concentrate on that. The other things are not my decision.
“When I came here I was convinced we could do really well. In January I was expecting some surprises but they didn’t come so we have to carry on and keep working harder. We now just have to try to bring the best from our players.”
