Earlier this week, agent Mithat Halis revealed that Middlesbrough were interested in re-signing the versatile 23-year-old, who can operate as a right-back or a centre-half, also claiming his client wanted to play in the Premier League next season.
As quoted by Evening Gazette, he said; “Kalas wants to stay in England next season, preferably in the Premier League. He is happy at Chelsea but Middlesbrough are interested.”
Of course, those comments come after an 18-month loan stint at the Riverside Stadium which saw the Czech international make 47 appearances across all competitions – including 19 in the Championship last season as Aitor Karanka’s side achieved promotion to the Premier League.
But it appears Middlesbrough have missed out on the chance to sign Kalas, who made two Premier League outings for his parent club during the 2013/14 campaign.
Rather, the 6 foot starlet’s next destination is a little closer to home in the form of Chelsea’s west London rivals Fulham. He’ll spend next season on loan at Craven Cottage in the Championship.
