Ex-England manager Fabio Capello has distanced himself from reports that he could be Chelsea’s next manager.

The Italian has been linked with a summer switch to the Blues to replace Rafael Benitez, whose temporary contract expires at the end of the season.

Currently in charge of Russia, Capello has been mentioned as one of Roman Abramovich’s top targets, as he looks for an experienced manager to put the Londoners firmly back in the chase for Premier League honours.

But, the former Three Lions coach played down talk that he is in line to take control at Stamford Bridge, insisting that he has no idea where such stories have come from:

"I know nothing about this (link to Chelsea). I am really happy with Russia and focused to qualify for the World Cup," he is quoted by Sky Sports.

Capello enjoyed a relatively successful time in charge of England, guiding his side into the 2010 World Cup.

Despite resigning last year, he has maintained his reputation as a top manager on the British Isles, leading to speculation that he could return.

Chelsea have been linked with a number of other high profile names in recent months, including the likes of Juventus boss Antonio Conte and fans’ favourite Jose Mourinho.
