John Terry scored the opening goal just before half-time for his side, who now lead 1-0 against Tottenham in the Capital Cup final, to ensure The Blues keep up their fantastic record in this year’s competition. Chelsea have now scored the opening goal in every League Cup match they’ve played this season, and as things stand, are yet to trail in this year’s tournament.
Terry’s goal came from a set-piece after Chadli awkwardly brought down the marauding Bransilav Ivanovic to win his side a free-kick on the right hand side of the pitch. The subsequent delivery by Willian led to the ball falling at John Terry’s feet, with the centre-back doing just enough to send the ball goalwards via a deflection off Eric Dier.
The signs do not look good for Tottenham who trail 0-1 after 45 minutes. However, they will take encouragement from the fact that Chelsea have only kept a clean sheet in the game against Liverpool.
