Petr Cech is hopeful that his former club Chelsea will begin to wilt in the Premier League title race, as long as their rivals pile on the pressure.
Antonio Conte’s men currently have a seven-point lead at the top of the standings, with Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool the closest challengers in second and third respectively.
Arsenal are not far behind – sitting one point adrift of third after sealing a comprehensive 4-0 away win over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.
The Gunners are unbeaten in their last four league games, but the 3-3 draw at Bournemouth in their previous outing raised questions over the club’s title credentials.
Cech, who spent 11 years at Chelsea before joining the Gunners in 2015, believes that Arsene Wenger and the team are capable of hacking down the gap.
The Mirror quotes Cech as saying:
“We need to win these games as you can’t let them have the advantage of making the gap bigger. If everyone gets points Chelsea feels the pressure from behind. This is probably the better scenario for those of us who are chasing.”
