Spanish football insider Guillem Balague has revealed that £15million will be enough to secure the signing of Barcelona’s David Villa, which will come as good news to Chelsea in their search for another striker in the summer.

The Spain international forward has spent the season either coming off the bench in the last 15 minutes, or being replaced in the second half as manager Tito Vilanova makes his tactical adjustments.

Villa’s current situation has been a source of frustration as the player moves into the final year of his contract.

It is believed that the Barca forward, 31, wants to finish his career in London with Arsenal and Chelsea on red alert. Rafael Benitez might see him as the perfect foil for Fernando Torres, who has seen a slight improvement in form over the last five games, bagging six goals.

Balague’s comments, coming via his blog, aims to quash speculation that Villa will be making a surprise move to Michael Laudrup’s Swansea.

"David Villa is not going to Swansea in January. Other clubs are knocking his door but he doesn't plan to move this winter," writes Balague.

"He’ll be looking to leave this summer and with just one year left on his contract, a figure of about £15million should be enough to persuade Barcelona to let him go," he continued.

The Spanish football expert believes that the player will move on, with a move to one of the Premier League’s elite as his probable destination.
