The Nigerian international has just come to the end of his tenth campaign at Stamford Bridge, winning two Premier League titles, four FA Cups, a Europa League title and a Champions League title since signing from Lyn in 2006.
During that time, the defensive midfielder has obtained cult status for his unsung style of play and the rarity in which he finds the net, scoring just six goals in 372 appearances.
But the latest reports from Goal suggest Mikel may have made his last appearance for Chelsea, with the website suggesting he’ll look to leave west London during the summer transfer window unless incoming manager Antonio Conte can assure him game-time next season.
That seems unlikely considering Chelsea have been linked with a number of midfield targets recently, not least including Roma’s Radja Nainggolan and Leicester City’s N’Golo Kante.
But Mikel would prefer to stay with the former Premier League champions and will resist a summer move until holding further talks with the Italy boss after Euro 2016.
