Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has revealed his concerns regarding the club’s hectic fixture schedule during the end of the season.
This fixture list leaves the Londoners facing a gruelling set of games, with trips across Europe to face Rubin Kazan thrown in to make the run even tougher.
Chelsea kick-off their task of completing seven fixtures in the space of just 19 days this weekend against Southampton, and Ivanovic says that he is worried that the demands could effect their chances of success:
“For us this season is very tough, very difficult and is a big challenge personally for every single player.” He told Sky Sports.
“We have to show how good we are in every game. It’s a tough period. It is physically very difficult.”
But, he did reveal that the club can put their mid-season slump behind them to end the campaign on a high:
“I think we’ve missed a lot of chances this season. It is not a moment to think of a priority – for us every game is a priority. We want to be in the top four, we want to try and win the FA Cup as well and we want to try to win the Europa League. We have to go step by step, game by game.”
Chelsea have an FA Cup quarter-final replay to contend with as well, with Manchester United standing between them and a spot at Wembley to face Manchester City.
