Chelsea ‘agree’ mega money striker swoop

Chelsea have agreed a £50m summer deal for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa, according to reports from El Confidential.

The Brazilian-born Spain international has been a player on Jose Mouirnho’s radar for some time, with the Blues boss believed to be a big fan of his talents.

Costa has been the focal point of Atletico’s impressive season, with his 32 goals having made the Madrid side title contenders in La Liga and genuine candidates to win the Champions League – a competition in which they face Chelsea in the semi-finals.

Now reports in Spain claim that a £50m deal for the forward to relocate to London this summer has been agreed, and that the move will go through on June 30.

Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to land a top class goal-getter this term, and has been scathing in his criticism of Fernando Torres in particular.

‘The Special One’ has also questioned Samuel Eto’o’s age, overlooked Demba Ba and is rumoured to be willing to let Romelu Lukaku leave when his loan spell at Everton ends.

Costa is currently one of Europe’s top strikers, and was linked with Liverpool last year.
