The Galatasaray ace has been linked with a reunion with Jose Mourinho, who managed the midfielder during his brief time at Inter Milan. The pair lifted the Champions League trophy in 2010, after a 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich.
The Turkish club’s president, Unal Aysal, has told Mourinho that he is welcome to re-sign the Dutchman, providing he matches the club’s valuation of the player.
“I have been following the rumours about Sneijder, but we have not received an offer for him,” Aysal said.
“If an offer in the region of €15million (£12.75m) comes in, we might decide to sell him though.”
Sneijder faced Jose Mourinho twice this season, in both legs of the Champions League quarter-finals, where Real Madrid won 5-3 on aggregate.
The news could also interest Tottenham Hotspur, who were linked with the 29-year-old in January. But after deciding not to bid for the midfield ace, they watched him join Galatasaray instead.
The 2010 World Cup runner-up could be one of Mourinho’s first signings in his second spell at Chelsea, after he was officially unveiled to the press on Monday, declaring himself to be “the happy one”.
Is Sneijder the right man for Chelsea? Or is he past his best?
