Chelsea attacker in demand as Aston Villa & Celtic eye summer raids

According to reports from The Daily Mail, Aston Villa and Celtic are amongst five clubs looking to sign Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford.

The 22-year-old is yet to make a competitive appearance for his parent club but boasts a prolific record in the Football League, bagging 43 goals in 96 appearances throughout spells with MK Dons, Derby County and Middlesbrough.

That includes a 17-goal haul for the latter club during the 2014/15 campaign, which saw the 6 foot 1 forward claim the Championship’s Player of the Year award.

Bamford didn’t enjoy such luck in the Premier League last term, failing to find the net during spells with Crystal Palace and Norwich City, and seems unlikely to be offered a chance at Stamford Bridge next season following the ¬£33million arrival of Michy Batshuayi.

Accordingly, The Daily Mail claim Celtic have already made an enquiry into taking the former Nottingham Forest youngster on loan next season.¬†However, the Scottish champions’ interest is rivalled by four clubs in the English second tier, namely Aston Villa, Fulham, QPR and Wolves.
