Chelsea back in for Uruguayan ace

Chelsea are readying a fresh move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani, according to reports from ESPN.

Jose Mourinho has stated that the Blues’ transfer business for this summer was done following the captures of Filipe Luis, Cesc Fabregas, Didier Drogba and Diego Costa, but with Romelu Lukaku having now been sold to Everton for £28m another forward is on his radar.

Cavani was a target for the Londoners during his time at Napoli, but PSG swooped last summer to draft him in.

However the South American has failed to settle in Paris, and has been linked with a switch away from the Parc des Princes since the winter.

With their net spend low, Chelsea are thought to be ready to pay around £40m to land Cavani, which would open the door for £50m flop Fernando Torres to be offloaded.

The 27-year-old has recently hinted that he may have a future at PSG, but it’s understood that he would consider Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United have also been linked with the prolific marksman, but a lack of Champions League football is seen as a drawback by the player.
