Chelsea boss expects Morata to face Bournemouth

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has revealed that he expects to have leading scorer Alvaro Morata back for Wednesday’s Premier League clash against Bournemouth.

Morata has missed Chelsea’s last three matches with a back problem, whilst it is understood that the Spaniard is also grieving the loss of a close friend.

It had been thought that the Spain international would again be missing for the home game against Bournemouth, but Conte has hinted that he will play a part.

Morata, who is valued at £58.5m by transfermarkt.co.uk, has scored 12 times in all competitions for Chelsea during the 2017-18 campaign.

However, the former Real Madrid forward has not found the back of the net in his last six matches in all competitions.

Conte told reporters:

“Morata probably [will return for the game]. He is going to start the training from Monday, but not with us.

“Monday he is going to start [training] for sure, but with an injury of this type you need a bit of time to recovery.”

Chelsea are unbeaten in their last eight matches in the Premier League, with that run of form leaving them third in the table – three points off second-placed Manchester United.

The Blues were, however, dumped out of the EFL Cup in the semi-finals by Arsenal last week.
