Frank Lampard remains in touch with former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho and âuncle Harryâ Redknapp as he continues his managerial journey.Lampard didnât get off to the best start for the Blues with his first competitive game ending in a four-goal drubbing at the hands of Ole Gunnar Solskjaerâs Manchester United side â the result looks somewhat worse now considering the paths both teams have taken since. Mourinho, a man who isnât exactly renowned for being reserved, criticised his tactics following the game, in his role as a TV pundit. In a recent interview with talkSPORT Lampard said: âWith Jose, we would have texts from time to time.âWe had some at the start of the season around the Manchester United game where he had a little go!âItâs all good. Iâve sat in the punditry chair for a year, so I understand the need to say things so Iâm certainly not going to bang on too much. In terms of him, yeah we have a relationship.âWhile Mourinho occupies a significant tutoring part of his life, Lampard is quick to praise Redknapp as the man who made becoming the Chelsea manager possible. Lampard played under Redknapp at West Ham United before moving to Stamford Bridge.âHarry Redknapp is Uncle Harry so it would sound wrong if I didnât speak to him, but he was great for me in getting me the role at Derby. He was close to Mel Morris [the chairman].âHe followed us brilliantly last year. He would text me and call me to talk about Derby and is doing the same at Chelsea, so I have to shout Harry even though he is family.âWhat he did for me in terms of getting me on the ladder managerially is huge and I will always be thankful for that.â
Chelsea have won four games on the bounce in all competitions and welcome Newcastle United, who are coming off the back of a victory against Manchester United, to Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
