Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has hinted that Frank Lampard will one day have a statue of him erected outside Stamford Bridge.
It is feared that Lampard may have already played his last game for the Blues, with Mourinho confirmed that he is too ill to feature in their final game of the season against Cardiff.
But Mourinho believes Lampard will be remebered by the club in the same way Peter Osgood was.
He told London24: “I think maybe in a few years he will have a statue where Peter Osgood is.
“He’s one of the biggest players at this club.”
And Mourinho also admitted that Lampard isn’t the only player to be missing from Sunday’s match day squad, with two other veterans forced to sit out through injury.
“Samuel Eto’o got an injury in training,” he said.
“John Terry yesterday, a little thing too. Normally, all of them are out for Sunday.
“I expect, if Lamps is in bed, tomorrow he won’t play.”
