Chelsea boss hints that he won’t be signing starlet this summer

Jose Mourinho has hinted that Chelsea’s pursuit of John Stones may be over for this transfer period, report the Independent.

Jose Mourinho is said to be growing frustrated over Everton’s refusals for Chelsea’s offers and may be resigned to pulling the plug on the deal.

Chelsea are thought to have had two bids rejected for the 21 year-old defender, including a bid of £28m, as Everton boss Roberto Martinez has expressed his anger at how Chelsea have conducted their business over the defender.

Stones is said to be open to a switch to Chelsea, and Manchester United are also thought to be monitoring the situation.

But Mourinho has given a hint that Chelsea may have to withdraw their interest, telling reporters: “The market sometimes has no rules.

“We, as Chelsea, we make our own rules. To make our own rules is to evaluate the players, and to know the players’ value, and to know when we have to stop and turn to another side, and think in another option.”

That doesn’t mean that Chelsea will give up for good on signing the England defender, as Mourinho sees Stones as a long-term replacement for John Terry alongside Gary Cahill at the heart of the Chelsea defence.
