Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has revealed that star striker Diego Costa could miss their clash against Stoke City with an injury, according to reports from the Express.
Costa has been struggling with hamstring problems ever since his £32million move from Atletico Madrid in the summer, which was the same injury he had at the tail end of last year’s La Liga winning season.
And against Hull City on Sunday, the Spaniard was taken off in the 75th minute by Mourinho for Loic Remy, with the Frenchman grabbing the winner just two minutes after the substitution.
After the game ‘The Special One’ explained that because of his niggling injury, Costa may miss their next Premier League clash against Stoke City on April 4.
“He has a muscular problem, there’s no doubt about it,” Mourinho said.
“When the team needs goals and the striker comes off with 15 minutes to go it’s because he feels it.
“He has already experience with the hamstrings and was clear that he had an injury but if he cannot play the next game in 15 days against Stoke, we have Remy and we have (Didier) Drogba – let’s go.”
The Portuguese manager has revealed his players to be injured before an international break several times in the past, and this could be the case once again to avoid Costa being overused for Spain next week.
