Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed how he believes star forward Diego Costa can improve his fortunes, report the Guardian.
The Spaniard has come under fire for his erratic form this term, despite leading the club to a first Premier League title in half a decade during his maiden campaign in England.
The 27-year old has notched just seven times in 29 league appearances for the Blues dating back to mid-January, and has been linked with a move back to Atletico Madrid recently.
Mourinho believes the controversial frontman must ‘anticipate things and read the game faster’ in order to get back on track.
‘As a striker he must read. You have to play not only when you have the ball but when others have the ball.’
Despite putting the hamstring problems that dogged him last season behind him, the Brazilian born Spanish international has been one of the major disappointments of Chelsea’s nightmare season.
However, the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ put down speculation that the pair have continued their reported spat during the midweek win over Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Champions League.
‘Everything is OK, no problem, no problem. But he’s not reading the game properly in these actions.’
