Chelsea boss set to fight FA charge

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has requested a personal FA hearing and denied a charge of improper conduct, following his dismissal in the defeat to Aston Villa at Villa Park earlier this month, reports the Daily Star.

Mourinho had until 6pm on Monday to contest the charge, and hinted on Friday that he was ready to fight his corner.

Mourinho was sent to the stands in the closing seconds of the Blues 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa, after he entered the field of play and approached referee Chris Foy.

The incident was the second time this season Mourinho has been sent to the stands, with the first coming during Chelsea’s 4-1 win over Cardiff at Stamford Bridge in October.

Mourinho accepted the charge on that occasion, and was fined £8,000.

It remains to be seen whether the Chelsea boss will receive a punishment and of what nature, following the incident at Villa Park.

Mourinho was furious with the decision of referee Chris Foy to send off both Willian and Ramires in the 1-0 defeat on March 15.
