Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has urged fans to lay off beleaguered midfielder Cesc Fabregas despite his struggles this year, according to the Daily Mail.
The Spaniard was hailed as an integral part of the Blues’ title march last term, but has come under fire for a complete dip in form this season.
In fact, much of the blame has fallen at the feet of the 30-year old former Barcelona and Arsenal maestro, though suggestions he was the instigator or a dressing room mutiny against axed boss Jose Mourinho appear to be wide of the mark.
Now, experienced Dutch coach Hiddink has jumped to the defence of the World Cup winner and insists too much of the focus has been levelled his way.
‘I think we are now focusing too much on Cesc regarding this’, stated the 69-year old.
‘The whole team weren’t doing well until December. It’s not just one player.’
Fabregas has been linked with moves to Italy in recent weeks after an unhappy second season at Stamford Bridge.
