Chelsea boss urges World Cup winner to wait for Bosman move

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has urged Sami Khedira to see out the final year of his contract at Real Madrid before switching to Stamford Bridge on a free transfer, according to reports from The Express.

The Germany international – who was a part of his country’s World Cup success this summer – has been heavily linked with a move away from the Bernabeu in recent months, with Arsenal having been mooted as his likely destination.

However Arsene Wenger has ruled out a move for the 27-year-old, prompting Mourinho to delve in.

The Portuguese coach is understood to have spoken to the midfielder and told him that there’s a place for him at Chelsea if he runs down his contract with Real and becomes a free agent.

Mourinho coached Khedira while at Real and is known to be a massive fan of his rangy playing style.

Los Blancos are thought to be desperate to offload him for £20m before the current transfer window closes, but with his wage demands standing at £150,000-per-week there is little interest as he will be available without a fee when the season ends.
