Serie A outfit Juventus have renewed their interest in Chelsea central defender Alex after failing to sign the Brazilian in the summer, according to Setanta Sports.

The 29-year-old was heavily linked with a move away from west London over the past transfer window, with Juve, Arsenal and Bayern Munich reportedly interested in the defender.

Alex has only played two league games for Chelsea so far and has had to be rotated with Branislav Ivanovic and David Luiz as defensive partners for club captain John Terry, so make wish to seek a move away in order to get regular first-team football and had previously said it would be a ‘great opportunity’ to play in Italy.

Fresh reports suggest that Giuseppe Marotta, manager of Juventus, has made the Chelsea man his number one target for the January transfer window and with his contract due to expire in 2013 the Stamford Bridge club may be willing to sell.
