According to The Sun, Chelsea defender Reece James is attracting interest from six clubs this summer, and it gives the Blues the perfect opportunity to prove they have turned over a new leaf when it comes to transfers.

What's the word, then?

Well, following an impressive season-long loan spell with Wigan Athletic in the Championship, The Sun say that Leicester City, Manchester United, Crystal Palace, Everton, Bournemouth and Burnley all keeping tabs on the talented 19-year-old.

The teenager earned a place in the Championship Team of the Year as he helped the Latics stay up, and The Sun report that Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers in particular is ready to test the resolve of the west London outfit to keep James at Stamford Bridge.

A chance for Chelsea

The Sun say the Blues could be tempted by a £15m offer, but in fact this is the ideal opportunity to prove that they are finally ready to go in a different direction.

Far too often during the Roman Abramovich era they have been too quick to loan out their younger players and sign big-name individuals instead, and it's about time a number of those promising talents are given a chance to impress in the first team – especially important if a proposed transfer ban is to be upheld.

James certainly comes under that category given his impressive performances last term, as well as the fact that there isn't a great deal of competition for the right-back spot at Stamford Bridge with Davide Zappacosta simply not good enough.

The 19-year-old looks to have all of the ingredients to be a Premier League star of the future, so why shouldn't he get a chance to prove himself and work alongside someone like Cesar Azpilicueta now?

If Chelsea have really learnt their lesson, the right-back won't be going anywhere before the window closes in August.
