The Blues club scouts have been sent to monitor the progress of the young centre-back after Badal impressed Chelsea when playing in a recent youth tournament.
The 15-year-old has already represented the Spanish national side, albeit at under-16s level, and is highly regarded in his home country as a serious prospect for the future.
Chelsea have made recruiting promising young players a key part of their business model, and Valencia’s Carlos Badal would to fit perfectly into that policy.
The club’s well known preference for signing players with a high potential sell-on value has already paid dividends, with the club most recently turning a profit on the sale of World Cup winner Andre Schurrle to Wolfsburg for £24m.
However, not all the Chelsea stars are sold on, with Kurt Zouma proving this season that it’s possible to break into Jose Mourinho’s first team.
